Black Shuck is supposed to be an enormous Beast, the size of a Calf. It's shaggy coat as black as soot. The Dog had a fiendish howl. Foam and fire dripped from it's jaws and its breath reeked of death and decay. For centuries huge phantom dogs have been known to haunt all over Northern Europe. According to legend , anyone who sees such a beast would soon be stricken with disaster or death.
This is my responsive storytelling experience based upon the legend of the Demon dog of East Anglia,
n area of wide open skies and far stretched horizons far as the eye can see.
Black Shuck is the tale of a hound of unnatural size, an omen of misfortune to those who see it,
and of it’s enduring effect it has upon folklore in the area I grew up in.
This is a personal account of how a rural myth can become a chilling part of our present day,
as I myself was confronted by my own 'phantom' of misfortune when in 2021 I was diagnosed with Cancer.
This story is told as part fable and part living history.
'Michael pulling the strings of an already rapt audience. He can rhyme with Ian Dury rhythm, spin a yarn with silken imagery, born of the pancake-flat fields of the Fens.' Charles Hutchinson- York Press
